Farm stay or resort near Delhi: which suits your plan

The choice this guide helps with is how you want a weekend away from Delhi to run: around a room and a quiet corner, or around open ground and a long list of things to do. Rangmanch Farms is a farm stay on 20+ acres in Gurugram, 30 minutes from Delhi via the Dwarka Expressway, so what follows describes a night there and leaves you to hold it against any other property on your list.

Some groups want a room, a lounger and nothing to organise. Others want ground to cover, a play zone for the children and a second morning that looks different from the first. Neither wish is wrong. The useful step is knowing which one is yours before you book.

The sections below take space, activities, meals and pace in turn, then the trade-offs. Along the way you will find questions worth putting to whichever property you are weighing. At the farm, the answers include 80+ activities, all meals in the night, six room styles that sleep 2 to 6 guests, check-in at 2 pm and check-out at 11 am.

How much ground you want

At a farm stay, the land is the main thing on offer. On 20+ acres the activity zones are spread out so that the noise of one does not carry into another, and the grounds hold a botanical garden, a medicinal garden and a fruit orchard as well as the zipline. The farm sits next to Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary, so the setting is farmland and birdlife rather than city streets.

The six room styles are the Igloo and Jumbo Igloo domes, the Luxury Room built in concrete, the Bamboo Room, the Deluxe Room and the two-bedroom Family Suite, sleeping 2 to 6 guests between them. All six have air-conditioning and heating, a mini fridge and Wi-Fi. Ask any property how much of its land guests may use and how far it lies from the bed. The staycation page shows each style.

What fills the day

The activities are part of the night, with no separate ticket to buy. Staying guests have all 80+ activities: sky cycling, the zipline, rock climbing and the rope courses for the adventurous, the swimming pool and mud bath for the afternoon, and cricket on the field. Younger children have a Kids Zone with swings, kids' boating and a Multi-Playstation, while the katputli puppet dance and the welcome dhol suit the grandparents. Run the same test on any property: name something each person would happily do for an afternoon, and check it needs no extra ticket.

Meals, and the pace of the day

Every meal of the day is included in the night, from breakfast and lunch to snacks, dinner and beverages. The food is cooked on site, so meals are part of the stay rather than a trip away from it. Check-in is at 2 pm and check-out at 11 am, so even one night gives an afternoon, an evening and a morning, and one night can be booked on its own. Ask any property what the night includes and what is billed separately at the table.

Where the farm may not suit

Be clear about the trade-offs. Much of the day happens outdoors, so the season shapes the plan, and a few activities may be closed on a given day for technical or safety reasons. Indoor games such as air hockey, foosball and table tennis, and a room with air-conditioning and heating, give you somewhere to retreat when the day calls for it. If your plan is a weekend with nothing scheduled, the long activity list may be more than you need, so tell the team before you book.

Pets are welcome on a leash everywhere except the swimming pool, the water-activity zones and the dining area. A day outing lets you see the land before you commit to a night.

Frequently asked questions

How do we decide between a farm stay and a resort for a family weekend?

Start with who is travelling and what each person would do with an afternoon. If children and grandparents are in the group, check what they can do without leaving the property; if the weekend is meant to be restful, check how much is optional. At Rangmanch the activities are included in the night, the farm is 30 minutes from Delhi via the Dwarka Expressway, and the six room styles sleep 2 to 6 guests.

Which meals does a night at the farm cover?

Every meal is covered, from breakfast and lunch to snacks, starters, dinner and beverages, along with a welcome drink and tea and coffee through the day. The food is cooked on site. For any dietary need, message the team on WhatsApp before you travel and ask what can be arranged.

Can we book just one night?

Yes, a single night can be booked on its own and suits a weekend away. Check-in is at 2 pm and check-out at 11 am, so the stay runs from one afternoon to the next morning across the 20+ acres. Rooms are booked through the staycation page.

What if the weather turns during a stay?

Much of the farm's day happens outdoors, so the weather matters, and no one can promise conditions. Indoor games such as carrom, chess, air hockey and a pool table are available, and every room style has air-conditioning and heating. Message the team on WhatsApp before you travel to ask how the day is shaping up.
