Why Horse Riding in Gurugram Is the Perfect Weekend Activity

Most weekend plans in Gurugram fall into two categories: the ones that leave you more tired than the week did, and the ones that don't count as a plan at all. Horse riding at Rangmanch Farms sits in a strange middle ground — it's genuinely a physical activity, your legs and core are working the entire time, but it doesn't feel like exercise, and it doesn't feel like doing nothing either.

That's the specific appeal of horse riding among the adventure activities near Delhi people come to us for. It's not the adrenaline of the zipline or the chaos of the rope courses. It's closer to a reset button — one that happens to be sitting on top of a horse.

What riding actually asks of you

Balance, mostly. And attention. You're not steering in any technical sense — our handlers walk alongside every ride — but you are constantly making small adjustments: shifting your weight with the horse's stride, keeping your grip relaxed instead of white-knuckled, reading the animal's movement a half-second before it happens. None of that requires strength or fitness. It requires you to actually pay attention to something physical for the length of the ride, which turns out to be harder than it sounds for most of us who spend the week staring at screens.

Why beginners genuinely do fine

You don't need lessons, gear, or a riding background to try it. Our horses are trained specifically for guests who've never sat on one before, and a handler is with you throughout — not standing at a distance offering advice, but walking beside the horse the entire ride. First-timers tend to arrive nervous and leave asking when they can do it again, which is a more common arc here than people expect.

If you're bringing a child, horse riding tends to be the activity they talk about longer than almost anything else that day, camel cart and Kids Zone included. Something about being the one "in control" of an animal that size sticks with kids in a way a trampoline doesn't.

How it's different from the camel ride

We run both, and they're not interchangeable experiences. The camel ride is a slow wander — three acres of open ground at walking pace, built for looking around rather than doing anything. Horse riding has more rhythm to it: a trot has actual momentum, your body is doing more active work to stay balanced, and it engages your legs, back, and core in a way the camel ride simply doesn't ask for. If the camel ride is the activity you do to switch off, the horse ride is the one that leaves you pleasantly worked, in the way a good walk does rather than a gym session.

The part that isn't really about the horse

There's a reason riding shows up so often in conversations about stress relief that have nothing to do with fitness. It's hard to check your phone while riding. It's hard to think about Monday's meeting while you're focused on staying balanced on a moving animal. For the length of the ride, your attention is entirely somewhere else — on the horse, on the ground ahead, on the quiet that comes with being surrounded by open farmland instead of traffic. That's not a claim we're making up to sell a ride; it's just what tends to happen to people, repeatedly, once they're actually on the horse instead of thinking about getting on one.

Making it part of a bigger day

Horse riding runs through the full Day Outing, 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, alongside Camel Ride, Camel Cart, and Tractor Ride in the same Rides zone. Most people do it early — the horses (and the riders) are at their freshest before the midday sun — and then move on to something more physical, like the rope courses and tyre wall climbing, or something cooler, like water zorbing or the mud bath.

Is horse riding safe for someone who has never ridden before? It's built specifically for that. Our horses are trained for first-time riders, a handler stays with you for the full ride, and no prior experience or equipment is required. If you have a specific concern — a young child, a bad back, general nervousness around animals — mention it when you book and our team will guide you on the right ride for your situation.

How long is the ride? It runs at a pace set by the handler rather than a fixed lap count, which is part of why it doesn't feel rushed the way a timed ride often does. Ask on the day and the team will set you up based on how the queue and the horses are doing.

We're about 30 minutes from Delhi via the Dwarka Expressway and 25 to 35 minutes from Cyber City, close enough that "a proper weekend reset" doesn't require giving up your whole Saturday to the drive. Check the full activities list before you come, and put horse riding early in the day — it's a better first activity than a last one.
